Superfood Smoothie

Sometimes there’s nothing better than a nutritious smoothie to start the day.  This one is cholesterol busting, rich in minerals, vitamins and improves overall gut and heart health.  I use bags of frozen berries as buying fresh is expensive and it can be hard to use them all before they turn.  Don’t be put off by some of the stranger ingredients, it all blends really well to make a beautifully energising drink that tastes sweet and refreshing.

Makes 1 litre of smoothie

You will need:
Handful of curly kale
Handful of baby leaf spinach
3 oranges, peeled and cut into quarters, pips removed
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
2 cups of apple juice
1 small beetroot, cut into chunks
1 banana, sliced
2 tsp spirulina powder
1 tbsp lemon/lime juice
